Our Needs
The non-profit foundation "Refuge of Hope" was established in the U.S. in 2008 to educate and support children with disabilities. In order to keep overhead low and enable 100% of donations to directly benefit these students, we rely heavily on volunteers and sponsors. Here are some areas of need.
- Volunteers. We welcome volunteers in areas of administration, business, accounting, marketing and fundraising. If you can't travel to Peru, you can still contribute tremendously with your talents.
- Basic needs. We seek donations for basic needs, such as food, electricity and water. A $125 donation feeds 40 students 3 meals a day for one week. A $250 donation pays a month of electricity and water for the entire campus.
- Equipment. Assistive devices are always needed, such as wheelchairs, crutches, prosthetics, orthotics and brailler typewriters.
- Trees and hens. We recently launched a tree-planting project and egg-laying hen project. Donors can adopt a tree ($1) or a hen ($5), which will be tended by students and help provide a source of income.
